The Impact of Large Language Models in Academia: il buono, il brutto, il cattivo
By Mingmeng Geng

Mingmeng Geng will give a talk on the impact of large language models in Academia.

Abstract

Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly impacting human society, especially in academia. By analysing the use of words, we quantitatively estimated the impact of LLMs in academic papers and presentations. Our model is calibrated and validated on a mixture of real abstracts and LLM-modified abstracts (simulated data) after a careful noise analysis. The applications of LLMs in research and education will also be discussed.
